You and I celebrating you! If you get the inside right, the outside will fall into place. Eckhart Tolle I found this quote at a time when I needed it, many years ago. In a world that places so much emphasis on our physical body, it is challenging to remember that the real work is done on the inside of us. Personally, I have spent many hours, at different times in my life trying to look a certain way…trying to fit a standard of beauty. I exercised like a maniac to fit into a certain size. I changed my hair numerous times and I spent a lot of money on clothing that was “in”. In fact, it took me until my mid thirties to recognize ... Continue Reading »

Wisdom Seeking…
All too often we doubt our self, our intuition, our own internal wisdom. We tend to think someone else will have the answers – and seek advice from friends, family, experts or gurus. It’s so easy to just assume that we don’t know the next step or the right answer. But we do. I'm not saying we shouldn't trust others or not seek them out, but often we have the answer within us. I've found that my real wisdom often, comes from deep inside. It's a mix of my experiences and knowledge that I've gained throughout my life. It’s hasn't always been easy to trust it – in fact, it is much easier to look for answers outside of ourselves. Often ... Continue Reading »
Beginning Again…
2014 came, conquered, and is over! I did what I could and grew in many ways and struggled in just as many ways, too! Yet, I am so grateful to be here for another new year beginning. The holiday of celebrating a new year coincides with my birthday; so it's always been a very special time for me on so many levels besides becoming older. But the one thing that stands out is how grateful I am to be in this place at this time, doing what I love to be doing...creating art in all forms that call to me. There is so much to be grateful for in this Life. So many blessings that are constantly unfolding before us, as long we keep our minds open ... Continue Reading »
My Truth on Affirmations…
Have you ever questioned the way you affirm or visualize? Do you affirm or visualize your life's possibilities? Affirmations are all about faith. Faith in the unknown. Faith that our thoughts have power. Faith that we can handle any challenges presented to us. Faith in timing. Faith that we are heard. My truth with affirmations is that I affirm any way I want, as long as I consistently feel positive feelings. My outer reality and behavior is constantly in flux, shifting to match my inner reality. But, I've come to learn, that if I know something to be true within, it will become true. That's it, the secret to affirmations. The older I ... Continue Reading »
Slave to a Rhythm…
I've been experimenting a lot in these last couple of months, trying to achieve my balance between incorporating abstract shapes, color compositions, figures, words and themes.I've gone through lots of paper, paints, and canvases. I think I'm beginning to get something of substance throughout this for myself. I've always been into portraiture art (very stylized of course!), so it's been challenging to say the least to explore abstractionism, which I experiment with using collage paper. I've been a slave to portraiture for my whole adult life. I don't really consider what I've been doing as a pure form of abstractionism, but rather as a ... Continue Reading »
Time = Journey
Many years ago, around the end of the year 2000, I began my artistic quest. I honestly had no idea what direction I was going; I simply knew I had "something creative " inside of me. I read a lot of inspirational material on the creative life, tons of self-help books, basically whatever I could get my hands on to keep me focused. I discovered this poem around that time, although, I’m not sure where, but it is a poem that still resonates for me. Time takes us all on an amazing journey of discovery, I'm happy to still be on the journey of discovery. "The Journey" by Mary Oliver "One day you finally knew what you had to do, and ... Spring Time Meditation
On March 30, I was a guest blogger for Artistceller and had the wonderful opportunity to share my art journal pages that I created from using Artistcellar stencils. Artistcellar sent me two fabulous stencils to play with from their Sacred Geometry Series - "Square Rose and Flower of Life". I was excited about experimenting with these stencils and sharing it here. The 6”x 6” size makes it great to use with a lot of different projects. I needed a little “Spring” lift, after all the winter temperatures in my region, along with very gray days. I prepped two of my large format journal (22”x18”) with Liquitex Gesso. Since most of my work ... Continue Reading »
