This painting was created as part of my Winter Series. Winter nights hold such mystery and trees are the jewels of the evening. My mixed media take on a wintry starry night! The heart in the piece says, “For the darkness shall turn to dawn.”
Winter is often seen as a barren and desolate time. For many it brings darkness and melancholy. I wanted to create this series to bring light into this time, for me and others. Creating this series was my way of meditation on winter. It also was a way for me to experiment with encaustics, which really added to this series. I hope piece brings as much light to you as it has to me.
This mixed-media original painting is a 12 x 12 x 1.5 inch birch wood panel. This painting was created with layers of vintage papers, encaustic paints, wire, metal buttons, metal leaves, cabochons, resin, metal heart and handmade paper.
