All of the details...
This piece was created as part of my Winter Series. I grew up in New York City, where winter takes on a different atmosphere than a rural or even suburban area. The energy of a winter city is one that must be experienced at least once in a lifetime. Here is that tiny glimpse of coolness and the crunch of leaves on the asphalt. The background writing is about the feeling of being a child of immigrants.
Winter is often seen as a barren and desolate time. For many it brings darkness and melancholy. I wanted to create this series to bring light into this time, for me and others. Creating this series was my way of meditation on winter. It also was a way for me to experiment with encaustics, which really added to this series. I hope piece brings as much light to you as it has to me.
This mixed-media original piece was created from a found drawer on a rural road in Pennsylvania. I refurbished it to a shabby chic drawer. It is 15″ W x 18″ L x 3″D. It was created with layers of acrylic paint, vintage papers, encaustic paints, charcoal, graphite, muslin, plastic stems, dried leaves and photographs.
This painting can easily hang on the wall with a nail, an easel or mounting with wire and would look fabulous in any room in your home or office. This painting comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
