It's been days of rain and clouds around here. I'm still feeling unsettled feeling that comes with this time of the year, and of course, Mercury in retrograde, always affect me. Are you finding that unsettling too? I wrote about this a couple of weeks ago, and it persists. I know it's the shift in season, (gray skies makes the impact, greater) and the transitional feeling that comes with this time of year. As things shift, leave, expand and reflect, it all feels unsettling. As I navigated these feelings this week, I had a sense of void; everything appeared to be black, white, shades of gray. I didn't feel that color overload that I often ... Continue Reading »

What’s In My Luggage and On My Studio Table?
Several weeks ago, on Seth Apter's Blog, "The Altered Page" he featured the studio/studio table, unedited, uncensored and unkempt. There were lots of links to other artists' studios too! I totally missed posting the ball on putting in my studio shots on his blog that week. But, I decided I would post my studio/studio table this week. So here's a few shots of the studio, studio table and my art luggage supplies. A view from the top of the Studio Table. When I'm on a deadline, commission or working on a series, I work on two tables. But, lately, I've been using one table. I've done a lot of work in the various art journals I keep, ... What’s in my Journal…
What stories do you create when you see images? Do you know the story already or does your mind create a history for the image or make up a fantasy? The beauty of creating in my art journal is that sometimes the image comes first, and sometimes the words. For me, it doesn't matter, because it all comes from within me; it can't be contained, so I get them outside of my mind, heart and spirit, so that I can view them outside of myself. They often tell me a great deal who I am and the world I live in. What stories stay with you? What imagery draws you to it? Think about it and tell your stories and show your imagery. From my ... Fall Reflections…
Fall is always a time when I start burrowing. It's the time of the year, when change brings about reflection. I wish I could say, that it brings about momentous change; but often times, it just brings the thought of changing. Maybe that's how change starts, with just planting the seed. Things have gotten quieter on the home front, with the "baby" away at college, the daylight time getting shorter and the temperatures starting to dip slightly. So today, I'm reflecting in my art journal and here are the pages that came out today. After I finished these pages, while cleaning and putting art supplies away, I found this quote folded up ... My Truth on Affirmations…
Have you ever questioned the way you affirm or visualize? Do you affirm or visualize your life's possibilities? Affirmations are all about faith. Faith in the unknown. Faith that our thoughts have power. Faith that we can handle any challenges presented to us. Faith in timing. Faith that we are heard. My truth with affirmations is that I affirm any way I want, as long as I consistently feel positive feelings. My outer reality and behavior is constantly in flux, shifting to match my inner reality. But, I've come to learn, that if I know something to be true within, it will become true. That's it, the secret to affirmations. The older I ... Continue Reading »

Choosing An Art Journal…
To begin art journaling you don't need a whole lot of supplies, but you do need a journal. Choosing a journal is a personal decision and there are lots of choices out there. Here is a list of the common types of journals I use along with my two cents of opinion! Hopefully, this is helpful, when you decide to begin or continue your first/next art journal. Bound Journals This is the most obvious choice for beginners, a bound sketchbook. My Pros Large variety of sizes. Available at many stores. Variety of paper weights. This is a great easy choice for an art journal; they have a wide choice of selections and you're sure to ... Continue Reading »
